It was good to read in The Church Times that the Bishop of the Australian diocese of Canberra & Goulburn has no problem with women bishops. He would not hesitate to consecrate a woman bishop “if our needs are such, and our finances are such, and if God raises up a person who has the appropriate gifts and talents and abilities, and also happens to be a female”. In his diocese, 40 per cent of clerics are women. He is “orthodox” on sexuality but would not refuse homosexuals holy communion. “Anybody who names the name of Christ... is welcome at the communion table.”
