I read the letters in the CEN and always get a bit worked up

This week father [n] of Romford describes how angry he feels that women have been allowed into the episcopate - he is angry that 'the decision has not been made on theological or doctrinal grounds but on the grounds of equality'. I simply do not believe that this is the case. There are theological grounds for women being in preaching, teaching and roles of oversight. There are examples from the Bible of women in such positions. Also might the father not look to his very own title and see that there is actually no Biblical premise for him to be called father, which should only be reserved for God. Matthew 23:9 "Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven."
