Archdeacon Christine Hardman(Lewisham in the Diocese of Southwark) speaking on BBC television’s Newsnight programme, said that the decision was based on the Gospel imperative to recognise the spiritual gifts and authority of women in the church and in society.
I feel that at last women can now move forward with the confidence that they can minister with the full support of the Church behind them.
