THANK YOU ANGELA TILBY RADIO 4 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

AN INTRODUCTION

Thank you to Radio 4 for their 'Thought For the Day' on Thursday 12th June. Very interesting that the presenter introducing the preacher - A FEMALE VICAR - accidently introduced her as the VICTOR Angela Trilby and then had to correct himself to ...'I mean the VICAR Angela Trilby. Was this some sort of freudian slip, revealing much about the collective subconscious? You see those early sisters of the 1990s who fought so hard for Women's ordination were often attacked for being 'strident' or 'power-hungry'. You see the aim is never to be the 'victor' - never to win for the sake of winning, never to seek power. It's quite the opposite. It's about wanting to be meek, serve the body of Christ - be servant-like, submit to the needs of the flock - the congregation. Surely, one of the most important things we learn from Jesus is that he is our servant-king!
