I'll leave posting and go to bed - last words are those of Desmond Tutu, the Nobel laureate and religious leader.
In his contributions to a book about Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly gay bishop in the Anglican Church, Tutu affirmed his belief in the infallibility of scripture but also added that he cannot deny how the Bible has been misused to justify racism, slavery and the poor treatment of women.
"I could not stand by whilst people were being penalised again for something about which they could do nothing — their sexual orientation," he said.
