Who has the right to test interpretations of Scripture?

I have been following an interesting discussion on 'Gentle wisdom' about how and whether we challenge those who hold different views to our own. James Kirk says:
'Indeed. In the end I can only say that subjectively, as a matter between myself and God if I have allowed him to guide me, I believe that I can be sure of my own position. I cannot prove it to others, I can only leave it in their hands as a matter between them and God.' See Peter Kirk 'Gentle Wisdom'.
