Want some idea of what it might be like being a Christian in a Muslim world

This morning for Open the Book, at a local primary, we taught the story of Elijah and the false prophets of Baal. It made me appreciate the freedom that we have to teach and animate (through drama) the Bible. We were able to extrapolate teaching points about the one true God and placing our trust in him and his power.

Following my last post about the Christian minister who is facing imminent execution for apostasy unless there is reprieve, we might want to reflect on what it is like being a Christian in a Muslim world where such freedom is not known, where people are literally risking their lives for their bibles, their faith and their fellowship.

Since coming back from India in January where only 3% of people are Christians, I am appreciating the freedom that I have as a Christian here in Britain in a whole new way.

This radio programme is from the White Horse Inn blog. It is an interview (it goes over the commercial break so do not cut off too early) with Pastor Fikret BocekHe is lovely to listen to, animated, real, warm and he talks about his conversion from Islam to Christianity in Turkey. He speaks with sensitivity and openness. He speaks about how we can have 'nice conversations with our Muslim neighbours over coffee.' He is advocating a peace-filled and educative evangelistic method based in relationship.
